Join us for the 2026 Professionals’ Brain Health Community Conference
A gathering designed for those working with and advocating for survivors of all types of brain injury engaged in systems of service around addiction treatment, mental health services, justice involvement, and housing or food insecurity.

People following traumatic brain injury can experience emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes. This day-long training will begin with an introduction to the nature of the onset of traumatic brain injury. The presentation will then proceed to address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes experienced after traumatic brain injury discussing the types of challenges people face as well as providing suggestions for interventions. Join us for a full day training with Dr. Robert Karol, ABPP-RP, CBIST-R.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Attendees will be able to —
- Describe the nature of the onset of traumatic brain injury
- Explain the emotional challenges occurring after traumatic brain injury
- Identify cognitive changes following traumatic brain injury
- Understand behavioral alterations post traumatic brain injury

This event will be held at the Nina Mason Pulliam Conference Center on the Ability 360 Campus, located at 5025 East Washington Street in Phoenix, Arizona. We hope you can join us for a day of fun, learning, and creating cross-sector connections to support brain injury recovery, care, and success in the community. Professional CEU certificates will not be provided.
The Ability 360 Campus is a scent-free environment. Please refrain from wearing perfumes or scented personal products when visiting.
TICKETS: Tickets are $50. Join us for a day of connecting and learning that is perfect for community members and practicing professionals.
VENDORS: Vendor tables are $250. Two company representatives are invited to join us for the day. A table and chairs are provided. Setup time is at 8:30 am, and vendor time ends at approximately 1:00 pm on the day of the event.

Robert L. Karol, Ph.D., LP, ABPP-RP, CBIST-R
About Dr. Karol
Dr. Karol is President of Karol Neuro + Rehab Consulting providing consultation, staff training and development, and career management. He has also been President of a group private practice, Karol Neuropsychological Services & Consulting specializing in counseling for Brain Injury (BI) and neuropsychological evaluations. Other work was as Director of hospital-based BI programs, in addition to being Director of Psychology/Neuropsychology. As well, Dr. Karol worked as Vice President of BI Services for a provider of long-term care.
Other past or current involvement includes Liaison of the APA’s Div 22 to the Board of Professional Affairs, Div 22 Practice
Committee (Co-Chair), MN Dept of Human Services TBI Advisory Committee (Chair), MN BI Interagency Leadership Council,
MN Dept of Human Services Home and Community-Based Services Partners Panel, Education Committee of Care Providers of
MN, and Mayo Clinic TBI Model Systems Regional Advisory Council. He served on the MN BI Alliance Board of Directors (Co-
Founder and Chair), US Brain Injury Alliance Board of Trustees (Governance Chair), Accessible Space Inc Board of Directors
(does housing), Opportunity Partners’ TBI Metro Services Advisory Committee (does job services), Vinland Center consultant (does chemical health), Karcher Foster Services consultant (does housing), and Restoration Services of MN consultant (does housing). He advised the MN Dept of Human Services on its Neuropsychological Services Ad-Hoc Committee and its Needs of Adults with Brain Impairment Committee. He served on the MN Dept of Corrections TBI Expert Advisory Panel and on the
Supreme Court of MN Board of Law Examiners Special Test Accommodation Panel. He has also served on MN Psych Assoc Payor Committee, Statewide Referral Service Advisory Committee, and Hospital/Medical Psychology Committee. He has been an Adjunct Associate Professor at St Mary’s University in MN and an Adjunct Professor at Argosy University.
He is Board Certified by ABPP as a Rehabilitation Psychologist and from ACBIS is a Certified BI Specialist Trainer- Retiree. He has received the Lifetime Practice Excellence Award from APA Div 22, the Cifu Award from the VCU School of Medicine, the Business of Rehabilitation Psychology Practice Award from APA Div 22, the Community Involvement Trisha A. Stark Award from the MN Psych Assoc and the Elinor D. Hands Advancing the Cause of BI Services Award from the MN BI Alliance. He was elected to the MN Academy of Medicine and is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine in England. He has authored journal articles and book chapters, and four books.
