Self-care is a crucial component of living well after brain injury. Often traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a chronic health conditioned to be managed,  not just a temporary event. Effects of the injury can evolve even years later.  Consistent self-care manages long-term psychiatric risks such as depression, and anxiety, supports neuroplasticity, maintains functional improvements, and manages fatigue.
