Emerging

By Toby Dorr from Poems from Prison

A new beginning
A brand new life
The tiny buds
Begin to emerge
Faith, confidence
Self assured,
Happy and at peace

My essence begins to emerge
I stretch to the sky
I reach for the sun
Welcoming new days

My life has begun

Honesty, clarity
Purpose of plan
Determination and joy
The tiny buds
Burst forth in leaf
Meeting the morning dew
A new season in life
A new vision and path

My soul takes wing and soars.
