Artificial intelligence tools are becoming part of everyday life, from searching for information and organizing tasks to writing emails, planning routines, and solving problems. For people living with brain injury, as well as families, caregivers, and professionals, AI can offer practical support—but it also brings risks related to privacy, misinformation, scams, overreliance, and decision-making.

This three-part workshop series introduces AI in clear, practical, and accessible ways. Participants will learn what AI is, how to use it for everyday tasks, and how to stay safe while building confidence with these tools. Each session includes real-life examples, guided practice, and safety strategies designed with the brain injury community in mind.

Attend one or all the sessions.

JUNE 20 • PART 1

A I : What It Is, What It Can Do, and What to Watch For

Session Description

This introductory session explains artificial intelligence in plain language. Participants will learn what AI tools can and cannot do, where AI already shows up in daily life, and how these tools may support memory, organization, communication, learning, and independence. The session will also introduce common risks, including inaccurate information, confusing answers, privacy concerns, and overtrusting AI.

JUNE 27 • PART 2

Using A I as a Practical Support Tool

Session Description

This hands-on session focuses on using AI for everyday tasks. Participants will practice asking clear questions, giving useful instructions, and checking whether AI responses are helpful. Examples may include creating reminders, simplifying information, drafting messages, preparing questions for appointments, breaking tasks into steps, and planning routines. The session will emphasize pacing, clarity, and strategies that reduce cognitive overload.

JUNE 29 • PART 3

Staying Safe, In Control, and Confident with A I

Session Description

Through group coaching, the session focuses on safety, privacy, and decision-making. Participants will learn how to spot unreliable AI responses, protect personal information, avoid scams, and decide when to seek help from a trusted person or professional. The session will also cover healthy boundaries with AI, including how to avoid overreliance and how to use AI as a support tool rather than a decision-maker.
