Life after a brain injury may mean making minor or major adjustments in the way a survivor lives their everyday life. One thing often impacted is relationships. The Drs. Reuters are joining us for a special talk about navigating the dating field with a TBI/ABI as well as tips for survivors already in committed relationships learning how to be a couple all over again.

Dr. Scott Reuter

Dr. Scott Reuter holds the Doctor of Behavior Health and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona.  He has been a behavioral health provider for over 25 years, receiving his education at the University of San Diego and Arizona State University. Dr. Scott works with adults, adolescents, and families, and has specialized training and credentials in couples & relationship therapy, integrated care counseling & treatment coordination, and clinical supervision & psychopathology training.  His years in the field include psychotherapy and counseling in general mental health & adjustment, depression, anxiety, grief, personal and professional growth, gender differences and concerns, serious mental illness, homelessness, differential diagnosis, co-occurring conditions, organizational psychology, substance use, legally mandated persons, and acculturation concerns. He has trained well over a hundred staff, interns, counselors, social workers, and peer support through direct supervision and didactic instruction.

Dr. Scott is clinically trained Integrated Care, which is an evidence-based, multidisciplinary team approach that promotes individual wellness at a holistic psychological and physical level. Interventions are designed to enhance positive health outcomes through assessment, reducing risk factors through behavioral and attitudinal change, and enhance protective factors through prevention, maintenance behaviors, emotional adjustment, stress & disease management, health promotion, and cost reduction.

Dr. Scott is an adjunct faculty professor with Maricopa Community Colleges and teaches at Paradise Valley Community College in the Behavioral Sciences Division; classes include psychology, gender, culture, personality, and abnormal psychology courses with wonderful college and early college students.

 

 

Dr. Alison Reuter

Dr. Alison Reuter is an Arizona licensed psychologist, board certified in pediatric neuropsychology.  Dr. Reuter works in private practice where she conducts evaluations (both private and forensic), and also provides family and professional consultation and counseling. In addition, Dr. Reuter works within an acute inpatient medical setting at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital, specializing in evaluation of and support for individuals with acquired brain injuries.  She is the board president of the Arizona Psychology Training Consortium, which creates and oversees quality postdoctoral training sites throughout the state. Dr. Reuter is also a Faculty Associate with Arizona State University’s Doctor of Behavioral Health program.

Dr. Reuter completed her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University. She completed a one-year internship and a two-year post-doctoral residency in neuropsychology at Beljan Psychological Services through the Arizona Psychology Training Consortium. She earned a Master’s degree in Asian Religion from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Ethics at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois.
