This presentation will cover the shifting and changing roles that occur with spouses, children, friends, and family members following a loved one’s brain injury. Topics of discussion will include appropriate self-care and communication strategies required to strengthen relationships within families, navigating through uncertainty, processing new emotions and responsibilities, building frameworks of resiliency and support, and radical acceptance of one’s new identity and role within family systems.

ABOUT PRESENTER EMILY KADE, PsyD

Dr. Emily Kade is an Arizona licensed psychologist specializing in pediatric and adult neuropsychology. She provides pediatric and adult evaluations, therapy, and executive function coaching services in private practice for children, teens, and adults with giftedness, 2E, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, and other mood and neurological conditions.

Dr. Kade consults at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital supporting patients with acquired brain injury, and other cardiac, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. She also provides consultation services at New Way Academy, assisting in evaluation of children with learning differences.
